Design Business Lunches – John Gilbert speaks about Evolution

For our second installment our lunch lecture series, John Gilbert from Novelis Inc. the world's premier producer of rolled aluminum and the global leader in aluminum recycling, will talk about “Evolution” and what it takes to take a global B2B brand to the next level.

John Gilbert has twenty-five years of experience in various senior level roles; he has a wealth of experience in the digital domain and is currently Director of Digital Strategy & Creative Services at Novelis Inc.

John is responsible for the overall strategy and operations of Novelis' online initiatives. His primary mission is to collaborate with other business and technology leaders within the organization to define the direction of Novelis in online channels and deliver a prioritized road map to move from the current to a future environment. Novelis' Digital strategy outlines how the organization of content, features and functionality on the Web will contribute to the organization's strategic goals.

Prior to joining Novelis, John was Vice-President of the Digital Solutions Group at Bader Rutter & Associates (2006 – 2010), a large B2B marketing services agency in Milwaukee, WI. John’s team brought digital marketing solutions to nationally known brands like Pfizer, Deere & Company, Schneider Electric, GE Healthcare and Dow AgroSciences. His team delivered business value through a combination of digital strategy, technology and creative / user experience.

As Founder and CEO of one of Wisconsin's first Interactive Services firms, Digital Visions (1995-2005), John was responsible for the eBusiness and eMarketing offerings that his firm brought to market, including design, development & deployment of online stores, intranet & extranets for corporate clients, application hosting & maintenance, customer service solutions, and market analysis. John and his company launched the first transactional websites for companies like Allen Edmonds, Trek Bicycles, Blue Cross & Blue Shield & Oshkosh B'Gosh.

Prior to founding Digital Visions, John was Director, Business Development with the Allied Computer Group of Milwaukee & Madison, WI (1990 – 1994). In his five years with Allied, he was responsible for the delivery of information systems solutions for corporate clients like Johnson Controls and Harley-Davidson.

John is a frequent speaker at industry and association events, is a private pilot, avid cyclist and resides in Atlanta, GA.
