Infographics + Data Visualization - Speaker: STEW LANGILLE (Co-founder Visual.ly, world's largest marketplace for visual content creation).
We live in a world where there is an overwhelming amount of information and data; are infographics the way to consume this information in the most efficient way?
Stew Langille, who co-founded the successful company Visual.ly in 2011, is going to be in Atlanta on February 6 to talk about how infographics and other types of visual content have influenced the social media landscape. Stew will present best practices, case studies (from a variety of categories, ranging from Education to Business or Politics) and the process they use to create an infographic that captures the minds of large audiences.
With this series of events, AIGA Atlanta wants to promote the exchange of innovative ideas and stimulate a discussion around the future of this kind of visual content and the role of designers in the process of visualizing information. This event is open to AIGA members but welcomes all audiences with an interest in Social Media, Big Data, Global Collaboration and Information Design.
About the speaker:
Visual.ly is the world's largest marketplace for visual content creation. It was founded by Stew Langille, Lee Sherman, Tal Siach, and Adam Breckler in 2011. In his previous role with Mint.com, Langille noticed that the infographics posted to his website generated 30 times more traffic than a comparable text article. According to Langille, “we knew we were onto something big." From there, Langille started to expand into other forms of visual content, including motion graphics and even games.
