Leaving UK design school in the mid 1980’s, James Sommerville’s focus was to make it as a professional designer. After 35 years from agency start-up, navigating multiple recessions, avoiding bankruptcy, to then joining a 125 year old company (as VP Global Design at Coca-Cola) preaching the value of design, to today launching a distributed creative platform in the middle of a pandemic. He will talk about how designers have to choose to survive, as well as design.
