GDC is the first large-scale and most comprehensive design campaign in China started in 1992, held every two years. It was founded by Shenzhen Graphic Design Association (SGDA) as a predecessor as Graphic Design in China. This campaign has become the most influential design festival in China, representing the highest level of Chinese design.
GDC collects the latest design achievement from top designers and new emerging talents from all over the world and shows their outstanding achievements in graphic design. With the goal to “DESIGN FOR CHINA’S FUTURE”, this juried competition reflects the interaction of modern design, culture, economy, and society, and contributes to establishing a new value standard for design in China’s future.
In an era of global design diversification, following GDC in Japan, GDC in Britain, Global Exhibition Tour of GDC 2016 will present GDC In the U.S.A. on the stage of Atlanta, New York, and San Francisco, from October 20 through November 4, 2016.
Organized by SGDA, GDC in U.S.A. will display award-winning works of GDC and excellent Chinese designs, which is a showcase of GDC achievement and the value of design. Elite designers from top global design firms, universities and colleges will share their views and look into the essence of oriental aesthetics in the context of diverse global designs. This exhibition will extend our global cooperation regarding design creation and innovation, and will greatly enhance communication & development of Chinese design industry along with the world.
Co-sponsored by Auburn University and Miami Ad School + Portfolio Center, over 180 award-winning graphic design work from the GDC’15 global design competition will be featured in this exhibit.
The opening reception of GDC in U.S.A.—Atlanta takes place at Portfolio Center, 125 Bennett Street, Atlanta, GA 30309, on Thursday, October 20, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
